Visited the Michaeljohn salon last month. As a new client, I asked when making my booking for the 25% discount for a cut/blow-dry but was told this wasn't possible for the time of my appointment (early on a Monday morning), which was a pity. The staff were welcoming and friendly, not at all snobby as one might expect from the address! A sweet young Irish girl washed my hair and I then had a very good cut by Amy - she was pleasant and actually listened to what I wanted! Would recommend the salon and would certainly go back.

I have been going to Steve and Kevin for many years and would never consider changing, they are both fantastic. I used to see Clive, who is also wonderful.

I've given Michaeljohn 5 stars because I had a fantastic haircut and an all-round lovely experience. The staff were very welcoming and my stylist listened to everything I said. The salon is amazing and I will be recommending it to all of my friends.

One star because of the hairdresser I had.
I found Michaeljohn on this website and decided to have my hair cut there. I called and they booked me straight in. After mentioning that I had found them on Urbanpath they confirmed that I was entitled to a discount. My first impression was very good as the salon is beautifully presented, though a bit overcrowded for my liking.
When I was talking to the guy who was cutting my hair, I realised that they have different level hairdressers and I was booked in with a senior stylist (which is actually their lowest level of stylist). I was a bit disappointed because nobody had asked me what I wanted and I was expecting a master stylist to cut my hair, no matter the price.
In the end the hairdresser I had cut my hair totally differently to what I wanted. I asked him not to cut too much off as I'm growing it, but he chopped so much of my hair that I look like a boy. I also asked him to direct my hair towards the back and he directed it towards the front. Lastly, he left it thick on top and thin on the sides, which makes it so hard to manage now.
I got the impression that the guy didn't manage to cut it like we agreed so he just kept chopping away.
After all that, when I was leaving and was presented with the bill I asked if the discount was included and the girl confirmed it was; however, as I discovered later from the receipt, they didn't put the discount and instead charged me full price.
All in all, I think I might go back there again but would see a director instead of a senior stylist. I don't know why it happened the way it did, but I think they only really value their regular customers and those who don't go for the cheapest options (though I wasn't asked).

Having read the reviews, I decided to book myself in, and also take advantage of the discount. I was recommended Esther to cut and blow dry my hair. On the day I was a bit nervous, as going to a new salon can be intimidating. However, as soon as I got there the staff were all lovely, even though it was manic on the reception desk; I was made to feel special from the go as the girls were lovely. Esther made me feel at ease, she listened and gave me advice. The cut was brilliant - exactly what I wanted - as she took her time and didn't seem rushed. I would definitely recommend this salon to anybody (especially Esther, as I thought she was fantastic). I will be visiting again in the near future, definitely!

I got my hair cut here and had some highlights put in a few months ago. I was initially quite sceptical and wondering whether this was just another posh salon in London. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Bruno did an excellent job with my highlights - very natural and sophisticated. Adrianne gave me an excellent cut, which I thought really suited me as a person. I didn't find her pushy as one or two other reviewers said, she is just confident and not afraid to tell you what suits you and what doesn't. Am now going to book myself in for another cut and some highlights - looking forward to it already!

First time. A very positive experience. My hair was cut by Adrianne. It was a superb haircut. She listened to what I asked for and gave it to me and much more. Her Irish charm is wonderful, as is her work. FAB.

Growing my hair and Esther did my cut. She didn't cut too much off and advised against layers due to my fine hair. Best hair cut ever - brilliant. Much better than
Trevor Sorbie and the rest.

The best salon experience. I have been a few times and have had nail and hair treatment. I recommend Kara for a cut and blow dry - she is up and coming, fresh, and listened to what I wanted. I will be back!

I had colour with Josephine. She listened to me when I explained what I wanted, made some excellent suggestions and delivered a great result. However, had a nightmare hairwashing experience with a bad-tempered junior who doused me in water 3 times - I kept quiet but it was very unpleasant.

Went and had my hair cut by a stylist named Greg. It was my first time to the salon and I must say the experience was fantastic. Not only were the reception team so helpful and welcoming, even the lady that served me my free tea was polite. Haircut was amazing (really recommend Greg), and I also had my nails painted by a lovely lady called Chatchma. My nails have lasted me 10 days with not one chip! Definitely going back.

After hearing so many great things about this salon, I decided to try it when vacationing in London last month.
I had booked an appointment for a pedicure and "gel fill". When the nail technician met with me she said she was not trained to work with the type of gel used on my nails and the person who could was completely booked.
When booking the appointment I was never asked any questions about the type of product on my nails. So sadly, I left receiving no services. Not impressed... probably will never go back.

Are these reviews for real? I went here after reading the reviews and seeing the weekly offers. Adrianne was recommended by the reception team. She was brashy, very pushy and gave me a complete complex. The experience was distinctly underwhelming. I won't be going back!

I have been to the salon to see Adrianne to have my hair cut a few times and I definitely won't be changing to another salon. I feel really at home there and Adrianne is brilliant and always cuts my hair just how I like it. It is really smart inside too and a good place to go to relax. I have recommended the salon to all my friends.

I had been going to the same hairdresser for years and so, when she left to go back to France, I was pretty daunted about finding someone I trusted. I went to Michaeljohn on the recommendation of a friend and I suddenly realised what true experience and professionalism counts for.
I was made to feel incredibly special from the moment I walked in the door and the whole experience made me feel I had not only just had my hair cut, but visited a health spa and had a glass of wine with friends.
This is my new hairdresser and I doubt I'll be changing any time soon.

Lovely stylist called Adrianne has given my hair a new lease of life! I've had the same style for years and was very worried about trying anything new, but Adrianne was brilliant. She listened to what I didn't want and has given me the most fabulous haircut. Thank you!

I had my hair cut by an Irish girl here. After trying to discuss what I wanted, I felt totally dissapointed - not only was she insincere, she did what she wanted and kept telling me it looked great (it totally does not). She was pushing me to come back and have everything under the sun, even the permanent blowdry (my hair is straight as a poker!) Worst cut ever. Will definitely tell friends not to go.

I had a Brazilian blowdry with a lady called Abbie. I'm very unhappy as my hair is pretty much the same and it cost me a lot of money. I won't be going back.

I went to this salon for the first time last week after having read the great reviews on this website. I decided to go along and book a 'new look'. I have never been happier with a haircut. It looks great and really suits my face! I booked an appointment with Michele Antiga. He understands exactly how a haircut should be cut to compliment your hair type and features. I've always had 'hacked in' layers in previous salons but his cutting is so refined and delicate that hair just simply lies in the correct place. Definitely book him if you're unsure and want a decent haircut!

I decided to try something new and went to Michaeljohn and had hair extensions put in and I completely love them. Adrianne, my stylist, chose a perfect colour match for me and they look completely natural - I cannot believe it is not my hair. I had to sit for 4 and a half hours but I really enjoyed myself. The new salon refurbishment looks great. Adrianne was so lovely, and to pass the time I had a glass of wine. I came out looking incredible.
5 weeks in and I still love my extensions (as does my boyfriend!) and have had no problems with them. I recommend extensions to everyone.
