Loved it... can't wait to go back. I had my first cut with Ricky a month ago, and though it took me a week to get used to, I absolutely adore it and have had so many compliments. He is the first stylist ever to really capture the essence of my personality, which is no easy feat! The salon itself is chic, with lovely vintage pieces, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and it is highly unpretentious. Ricky himself obviously loves his art, and was highly professional, easy going, and a great listener. He was very thorough and gave me great aftercare tips. I would highly recommend - you won't be disappointed!

There are few things in life where being too picky is not a bad thing. My hair is one of them. A good cut can make or break a day... Jones & Payne keeps those days at bay.

I recently had my hair cut and styled by Lewis and let me say, I've never had a more perfectly cut crop. Being in that awkward in-between stage of hair length, Lewis listened to my gripes and worked with what I had with patience and finesse.

The salon itself is worth a visit alone. There's a comfortable vibe and everyone working is so chilled and friendly, from the reception to the assistants. Oh, and the massage chairs are a dream, teamed with the expert head massages that Sandy gives! The fully stocked bar looked rather tempting for an after-work aperatif, but it was a glass of bubbly that hit the spot. And the little tarts are an added treat!

If you're in need of a hair fix or just a positive salon experience, check out J&P. You won't regret it!

I've never written one of these reviews before, but was so pleased with both the result and the service at Jones & Payne in Shoreditch, I felt compelled to do so!

I had previously found it difficult to achieve a light enough shade of blonde (ie. bleached to white with no toner), but Claire listened and did a great job of this, putting in loads of highlights and providing great advice on after-care. Great wash and head massage too (not done by a trainee).

Ricky gave me a great cut, talking me through what he was doing each step of the way. It now sits really well.

Both friendly and lovely people. It is evident that it is a salon that really cares about the client. There was good communication (about my hair, not the weather) and the stylists I booked spent the whole time with me (rather than me being deserted for long periods, or left with a trainee - as happens at other salons).

Lovely, chilled out salon too, with attention to detail (e.g. drinks and nibbles). Very pleased and will be returning.

I love, love, love Jones & Payne!! Been today for the first time and would highly recommend to everyone. I have terrible hair and struggle to enjoy the experience of going to the hairdressers; however, this wonderful place is my saviour and was a dream come true.

My hair was in a bad way and was made beautiful by Claire and Gary. I have had my hair cut at many expensive hairdressers and can confirm this salon is the best by far! Claire is a complete pro at what she does, my colour was perfection. She knew immediately what my hair needed and set about leaving it completely transformed.

I was given drinks, magazines to read and everyone I came into contact with in this salon was truly a pleasure to be around. The whole vibe of the place is calm, chilled and totally cool. And the salon is beautifully decorated and totally designed by the guys that own the salon. Everyone here is completely genuine, lovely and professional.

I have booked back in immediately for my next appointment. This salon is set to become huge. You cannot and will not be disappointed! You will be so happy to find this gem.

Visited Jones & Payne after the Christmas break. I had a pretty good idea of what to expect after reading the reviews and it did not disappoint. I had a voicemail from Ricky that morning letting me know that the stylist I had booked with would not be in but that a more senior stylist would be available at the same rate. Ross was very helpful and Simon - creative stylist - was super great and matter-of-fact about what would suit my hair type... not like some hairdressers who give you what you ask for without taking into consideration the amount of work to straighten a fringe every day! He cut my hair for ages and then took me through the best process to dry and style my hair.

The place was buzzing by 11am, which can only be a good thing! I came a long way for the haircut but it was definitely worth it. By London standards the price is very good and I hope it stays that way for 2011. Brilliant place and I am looking forward to coming back! Thanking you!

An intimate salon in the heart of Shoreditch, this place puts you at the forefront and gives you the attention you deserve.

My hair is done by Claire Groves, who takes the time to get to know you and gives a personalised service, making you look and feel great every time. She was also a finalist in Britain's Hairdressing Awards, which distinguishes her from other hairdressers, yet a haircut with her is still reasonably priced. To sum up, she is technically brilliant and always has a smile. I personally highly recommend her.

I go to Jones & Payne to have my hair highlighted and sometimes cut. I always receive exceptional service every time I'm there - always being made comfortable, with offers of refreshments, and those massage chairs are divine.

Also, J&P don't charge a huge amount for a full or half head of highlights, while other lesser salons charge a huge amount for a substandard job. All in all, a top salon. Would recommend.

Having visited Jones & Payne twice in the past 2 months, I can say that my experience has been greater than exceptional. On both occasions I was met with a warm smile and glass of champagne. From the glamorous interior, to the massage chairs, all aspects of Jones & Payne exceeds expectations.

I came across Jones & Payne a few months ago and it is now quite simply the only place I will get my hair cut in London. From their extremely professional and courteous staff to the fantastic decor (not to mention massage chairs!), the place is phenomenal. Definitely worth a visit.

Claire at Jones & Payne is absolutely fantastic. I have never been disappointed by any of the haircuts she has given me. Her colouring is also amazing. I had the Brazilian Keratin treatment last week and my hair looks and feels incredible. I would thoroughly recommend Claire, Jones & Payne and the treatment! The banoffee pie was great too!

Ricky is very patient and he will ask what you want to achieve and how far you want to go with your hair. Then he will explain and tell you what is his plan and will then further discuss again with your thoughts and particpation. Of course, the result of the collaboration between the stylist and the customer is great!

Claire used to cut my hair at her previous salon and I was delighted to track her down at Jones & Payne (I'm not a stalker!). I booked her for a cut and colour - my hair needed it, as I haven't had Claire looking after it for far too long! As ever, she listened to what I said and helped me decide on a shade that would suit me and the style I wanted. She is so experienced and I always feel so relaxed and comfortable knowing that the final result will be fabulous.

The salon is so beautiful and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. I felt so pampered! The sinks downstairs for hair washing have massage chairs in them (looks like a '50s diner - I so love that look).

Everyone has been complimenting me on my new look. I can't recommend Claire highly enough.

I was a bit nervous of following these guys to their new salon, as part of what I loved about it was the whole 'experience'. However, these guys did not disappoint, with a stunningly slick new abode, excellent service and, needless to say, a faultless cut. They are always honest and really listen to what you want and need. I will be returning!

A friend recommended I try Ricky at Jones & Payne for a new do. I loved the salon - understated chic with no pretention. A glass of wine on arrival and lovely chilled-out wash in their comfy seats was a great way to start!

Ricky was nothing short of brilliant. He really listened to what I wanted and didn't push me into something that wasn't me. He took a lot of time over cutting and chatted to me as he went along - making sure I understood what he was doing and why. I was very happy with the results and would definitely return as well as recommend him.

Having to find a new and trusted hairdresser is never an easy task, but I feel like I hit gold here! My much loved Portuguese hairdresser returned to his home country a few months back leaving me hairdresser-less. I am in no way the sort to have my locks preened on a regular basis, but it had taken me many years to find someone I both trusted and got along with...

And so, on the look out for a new hairdresser I tried Ricky, and was in no way disappointed. Having never met before, I gave him the tall order of chopping my hair from long to boy-cut short, and he was brilliant. He listened, took in to consideration my hair and face shape, talked me through his thoughts, and then tailored what I wanted to who I am. I could not ask for more.

One month later and people still comment on the cut (a sure sign of a good hairdresser is if the cut grows out well!), and I have already sent others marching the way of Jones & Payne. Brilliant from start to finish, head to toe.

I had no choice but to follow Ricky to his new salon. He's the best hairdresser I've ever had. I love how he explains the rationale behind everything he does with your hair and he's a true artist.

The new salon is just divine. The interior is fantastic, music is great, and they provide everything to relax you from a vibrating chair when you're having your hair washed to a nice bellini.

Simon coloured my hair this week, and I love it! I was reluctant to get rid of my old colour but so glad I did! It's the best colour I've ever had.

I will definitely be returning again for some more pampering from the boys very soon.

I had my hair coloured and cut by Simon last weekend. I was at the point of absolutely hating my hair and feeling like it was beyond help. Simon transformed my hair and lightened it to a sparkling blonde - just how I like it. Great cut too. The prices are very good for the level and quality of service. A lovely salon - I will be going back!

My first visit to Jones & Payne was welcoming and relaxed. The staff are friendly and helpful. Ricky Lee Jones cut my hair, talking me through the process. I have very thick hair and Ricky managed to get a great result. I've tried a few salons lately and I will be sticking with Jones & Payne. Ricky Lee Jones knows his stuff - he sparkles when he cuts hair. Highly recommended.

Ricky is the best hairdresser I have ever had. He actually makes you look hot and his cuts last for months because he is so skilled. The salon is superbly run and staffed with fantastic people. The music is also superb. Truly a wonderful place.

I had my first proper haircut and colour at Jones & Payne recently, after living in fear of hairdressers after a terrifying ordeal which resulted in yellow-orange hair and a puffy Hilary Clinton/First Lady Puffball Mullet haircut. (Yes, it's possible).

I made my appointment timidly but upon stepping in the salon was instantly at ease. Everyone is lovely, they are all impossibly good looking and cool (including an awe-inspiring moustache upon one staff member which I had to prevent myself from staring at) yet they really make you feel relaxed and confident. My stylist really understood what I wanted and worked wonders. I have very fine hair, and the fringe that was cut was amazing, as well as the layers to give it a little more "zhoosh". I was so pleased, and couldn't stop feeling how soft it was after I left. They use great Shu Uemura products which smell amazing, and I couldn't recommend them enough.

Also I want to steal the seafoam green chaise longues they have in there... so cute!
